Girls’ Fire Camp

Girls' Fire Camp

An Invaluable and Unforgettable Camp Experience

The VCFD Girls’ Fire Camp is an entirely free two-day experience designed to engage young women aged 14 to 18—and share what it’s like to be a firefighter through fun, hands-on activities. Space is limited to no more than 30 first-time campers.

Taught by inspirational female firefighters from agencies all across the west coast, Girls Fire Camp features different scenarios each day. These in-depth, invaluable situations include:

  • Hydrant and nozzle checks
  • Hose deployment
  • Rope operations
  • Ladder deployment
  • Search and rescue
  • Extrication
  • Forcible entry
  • Emergency medical skills
  • Standpipe evolutions
  • Physical fitness + nutrition
  • Interview techniques

Despite the camp’s name, it is open to all genders. The camp is held every year at the VCFD Regional Training Center, located in Camarillo at 102 Durley Avenue.

Notice to Parents

Students under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign them in and out of camp. Camp shirts, water, and lunch will be provided. Hats and sunscreen are encouraged.

Dress Code

The camp dress code calls for comfortable clothes, meaning pants or jeans. Shorts, spaghetti straps, strapless, tube tops, baggy clothes, and open-toe shoes are not allowed.
